The catalog description for AMS 7 is as follows:
Case-study-based introduction to statistical methods as practiced in the biological, environmental, and health sciences. Descriptive methods, experimental design, probability, interval estimation, hypothesis testing, one- and two-sample problems, power and sample size calculations, simple correlation and simple linear regression, one-way analysis of variance, categorical data analysis.

- (26 Sep 2018) The webcasts for the class are now up and running. To watch a video of one of the lectures, go to webcast.ucsc.edu ; in the third row down from the top in the Webcast Course List you'll find a row that begins AMS 7 David Draper; in the right-most column of that row under the heading Link, click on Video List; on the page you come to next, in the top yellow box type in the username for this course, which is ams-7-1 ; in the next yellow box type in the password for this course, which is ams-7-01-fall-2018 (five character strings linked by dashes, no spaces, all in lower case; this is a long password, but if you make sure that the Remember me box has a check mark in it, you won't have to type in the password from now on, as long as you're using the same computer each time); now click on the blue Login box and you're at the Course Webcasts page. To watch a video just click on it, and then click the relevant symbol on the left just below the video screen: right arrow for watching, left arrow for going back, double vertical line for pause.

- (9 Oct 2018) Our Learning Support Services (LSS) tutor this quarter is Hina Dawar (email address hdawar@ucsc.edu). She is leading the following small-group tutoring sessions, all of which meet every week for the rest of the quarter at the Science & Engineering Library front desk: Tue 5:30-6:30PM, Wed 9:15-10:15AM, Thu 10-11AM, Friday 1:30-2:30PM. You can't just show up; you have to register for the session you want, either by going to your Slug Success page or via the front page of the LSS website .
